Stuff – Deputy Editor

Stuff’s goal is to provide the best tech and gadget advice to consumers, delivered in an entertaining tone.

The Deputy Editor of Stuff will work alongside the Editor-in-Chief to help create and manage the flow of content across Stuff’s platforms, with a focus on the Stuff.tv website but also Stuff magazine and our social media channels. Content will cover new and upcoming product launches, comparisons between key products, seasonal and topical content as well as explainers, listicles and much more. 

Experience in writing about consumer tech is preferable. Website editorial experience is a must, with magazine editorial experience an advantage, as is the ability to manage a wide group of freelance contributors. In-depth knowledge of SEO, ability to use Google Analytics and awareness of how to research keywords is required and experience in producing video would also be very welcome. 

This role is based from home, with attendance at industry events and launches in London and elsewhere including foreign travel as required. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Work with the Editor-in-Chief to develop the comprehensive content strategy on Stuff.tv  
  • Write news, reviews and features as required and communicate with freelance contributors to develop other content  
  • Communicate with PRs to secure cutting-edge review kit and other exclusive content.  
  • Develop our buying guide strategy through a combination of updating existing content and commissioning new.  
  • Manage our deals content to ensure we are covering the latest offers relevant to our readers and take an active role in planning and covering deals-related events such as Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday.  
  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief to plan the monthly magazine as well as contributing some regular content.  
  • Compiling the brand’s thrice-weekly newsletter.

Essential qualities

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm about technology and gadgets
  • Ability to work reliably under pressure, to tight deadlines with close attention to detail
  • Experience of writing about technology and gadgets

The position would be based around working from home, in close contact with the Editor-in-Chief, attending meetings and industry events.
