An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to take the reins as editor of Tractor & Machinery, the leading magazine for people who really know and love tractors of all ages. Tractor & Machinery provides readers with unparalleled knowledge, restoration advice, practical advice and all the latest news and sales results from auctions around the world every 4 weeks.
Tractor and Machinery is published by Kelsey Media a leading publisher of agricultural print brands, websites and events.
The role is offered on a freelance basis and will report into the Group Publisher of Kelsey Media’s Agriculture, Heritage and B2B Division.

About you:
You will have an editorial background with a proven track record at a senior level. You will have excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, and ideally you will have a good understanding and interest in heritage tractors.
You will be passionate about developing the brand as it enters its 30th year of publication and have experience of writing and commissioning content across print and digital.
You will be adept at multi-tasking, able to work under pressure and to tight monthly deadlines.

About the role:
The Editor is responsible for the content and overall editorial direction of the brand. They are responsible for all forward planning, commissioning and budgeting of content that may be published via multiple channels and brand extensions. They will work closely with the brand team (advertising, subscriptions, retail etc) to drive the brand forward. They will visit shows, auctions and advertisers in order to assist Kelsey’s advertising teams in generating revenue.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Responsible for generating all editorial content, words and photos on time and within budget.
• Work with the Art Editor/Designer to steer design, look and feel of all brand platforms.
• Generate editorial ideas and content that assist the advertising department in maximizing profitable revenue earning potential within the agreed commercial strategy of the brand.
• Attend regular meetings with the extended brand team to discuss editorial developments, ad related issues and other commercial ventures, e.g. shows.
• Adhere strictly to the production schedule and agreed production processes.
• Deal with reader correspondence.
• Sign off final page proofs prior to the designer sending the high-res PDFs to the printers.
• Check page proofs at the printer.
• Responsible for website content and updates where appropriate
• Responsible for social media feeds where appropriate
• Attends shows, auctions and events where relevant and/or there is commercial need.
• Act as a spokesperson for the brand when required to do so.
